Announcements

  • Tickets for the day trip to Powerscourt House and Gardens are on sale on Wednesday 7th October and cost €25 per person. Please see the Day Trips section below for more information.
  • Due to cancellations there are now two places available for yoga. Classes start back on 21st September and take place in the Ballinteer Community School on Monday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm. Contact Evelyn Rowe 086 860 6889 for details.
  • Chair Exercise Classes will start on Thursday 15th October at 10.15 for 8 weeks. Cost approximately €25. If interested please give your name to Margaret Henley.

  • BARA’s Christmas Dinner and Party will take place in Stackstown on Friday 4th December. Details to follow.

A presentation by Gerry Murphy from Met Eireann.
14th October

Discover Dublin Port history with a presentation from Lar Joye, the Port Heritage Director at Dublin Port Company, where he has managed the port’s extensive 300-year-old archive and industrial heritage collection since 2017. He is also the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Irish Museums Association.

BARA Charity Fundraiser.

An interesting presentation giving a unique insight into a garden owned by a showbiz star.

As we approach the festive season Cathy Scuffil delivers a fun and informative talk on “The Twelve Pubs of Christmas” delving into the fascinating history behind some of Dublin’s most iconic pubs.

Day Trips

16th October

Day trip to Powerscourt followed by lunch at the Enniskerry Inn. Tickets are on sale on Wednesday 7th October and cost €25 per person to cover the cost of the coach and the entrance fee to Powerscourt. Coach departs at 10.00am sharp from Broadford Rise (stop 2848). Snacks and lunch at your own expense.
6th November

Day trip to Glasnevin Cemetery. Details to follow.
11th December

Day trip to Trinity College and the Book of Kells. Details to follow.

Overnight Trips

28th September – BARA Autumn Trip

3 nights half board staying at the 4 Star Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal. The cost is €365 per person sharing or €405 for a single room. This includes the return bus trip to Youghal, 3 breakfasts, 3 evening meals, 3 nights entertainment and bus trips to local attractions for two of the days. Entrance fees to these attractions and the cost of other meals or snacks are at your own expense.

The bus for the our trip to Youghal departs from the Coach House car park on Monday 28th September at 9.30am sharp.
Please arrive early to allow time to load your luggage, board the coach and avoid delays.
Also remember to bring €35 per person to cover the entrance fees for the attractions that will be visited during the trip.
